Jonathan D. Watson

Jonathan D. Watson has been practicing law in the Morgan, Limestone, and Lawrence Counties and greater North Alabama area since 2010. He is an active litigator and trial attorney. He has represented hundreds of people in the courts of Decatur, Moulton, Athens, and North Alabama in numerous types of legal proceedings. His past and present clients come from all types of cultural and financial backgrounds.  Mr. Watson has represented business professionals, mothers and fathers, young children, non-profit organizations, and many others.

Jonathan Watson is a graduate, with honors, from the University of Alabama School of Law.  While in law school, Mr. Watson served as Senior Editor of the Law & Psychology Review and was a member of the Bench & Bar Legal Honor Society.  For his public service and volunteer efforts during law school, he was awarded the Order of the Samaritan and Dean's Community Service Award.  He received three "Best Paper" awards for excellence in law school coursework.  Mr. Watson also attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he received a masters degree in Theological Studies, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he graduated, with honors, and received bachelor of arts degrees in English and Philosophy.

Knowledge and Experience

Mr. Watson brings the knowledge accrued from his representation of hundreds of prior clients, his dealings and relationships with prosecutors at the municipal and state level throughout North Alabama, and his interaction with other attorneys, to each and every client he represents.  Mr. Watson's prior cases have ranged from the defense of traffic citations to multi-million dollar divorce cases to serious personal injury cases.

Community Involvement

Mr. Watson is an active member of the Decatur community. He served on the Board of Directors of two local charitable organizations: Rebuilding Together, Morgan County, which assists local citizens in desperate need of repairs to their homes, and Animal Friends Humane Society, which promotes humane principles and protects and advocates for our animals. He is also a member of the Morgan County Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar; each of these organizations, through various programs and events, serves the needs of the citizens of North Alabama and the State.
